Moving Day on the “Slowporatory Trip”
It's moving day today. And this is what it looks like. Depending on where we are, we'll have a lot of help . . . or not. We are not flying to another country yet, only moving to another part of Bali, so we didn't have to pack everything perfectly. Lord help us when we get ready for our next flight!
To get around on Bali, it's best to have a car or a scooter. We have neither, so we rely on finding drivers either through word of mouth or through an app that is somewhat like Uber or Lyft and is called "Grab". We've had some great drivers and some we would never hire again. Our favorite so far is Mr. Suta, or as we call him in Indonesia, "Pak Suta". The photo of him is an exact representation of his personality. He's delightful and is an excellent driver.
We are also adding new words to our vocabulary as we go along our journey. We are "slowmads" - nomads going slowly. As we go, we are exploring for the country where we will eventually settle in, so we are on a "slowporatory trip". We're sure we'll come up with more. Today we moved to the east coast of Bali to an area called Amed. It's a small coastal town that is VERRRRRRY laid back. We're staying at a villa that has an amazing view of the mountains and the sea.
Tomorrow someone is delivering scooters to our hotel for us, and we'll set out for some "slowporation"!
